Paving the way for large scale deployment of hydrogen trucks and the expansion of a hydrogen refuelling network throughout Europe

H2Accelerate TRUCKS is an innovative European collaboration of 15 partners, which aims to promote and accelerate the uptake of Hydrogen Trucks in Europe. Funded by the Clean Hydrogen Partnership, the project will deploy 125 fuel cell trucks from three OEMs (VOLVO, Scania, and Hyundai Hydrogen Mobility) and one retrofitter (HYLIKO) across at least six European member states by 2030. This first large-scale trucks deployment will be supported by a new hydrogen refuelling stations network installed by Everfuel, TotalEnergies and TEAL Mobility, funded by other public funding schemes.

Large-scale trucks deployment

The project will deploy 125 fuel cell trucks from 41 to 44 tons across six member states by 2030, paving the way for the commercialization of Europe’s hydrogen trucking system.

New network of high throughput HRS

The deployed trucks will operate on a hydrogen refuelling stations network designed specifically for zero-emissions trucks deployment installed by Everfuel, TEAL Mobility, and TotalEnergies. The project will contribute to increase the availability of hydrogen and reliability of the European network for the wider deployment of hydrogen powered trucks.

Develop Awareness

The H2AccelerateTrucks partners will raise awareness of the benefits of using green hydrogen for trucking in Europe. The project also aims to increase public confidence in this technology, as a solution for decarbonising the transport sector. This will be achieved by a wide range of communication and dissemination activities, as well as forums and initiatives tailored to the sector’s stakeholders.

Data Analysis

The creation of a large extensive technical, economic, and attitudinal database will upon analysis display the viability of hydrogen as a solution to decarbonizing road freight.
